We're pleased to welcome José Ayerve of Northampton Massachusetts' indie pop band, Spouse. He will be performing a solo set at the cafe this Wednesday, June 2nd at 6:30pm.
Come check it out! We don't get nearly enough live music in this neighborhood, right? The show is free, though donations to support José on his tour are certainly appreciated. If you like what you see, he'll be performing with backing musicians the following night at the Darkroom in Ukranian Village (2210 W. Chicago Av.)
Here's a short bio from Spose's website:
In 1995 a group of college students led by José Ayerve began performing in and around New England. The band has held together long enough to release several albums and singles full of infectious, if not easy to describe, indie rock at times reminiscent of Replacements, Pixies, and Pavement. Ayerve’s “sandpaper rough/feather smooth” voice is a distinct identifier for Spouse. Their latest, “Confidence” is being released on May 18th on Nine Mile Records.
