Our 3 year anniversary

It's hard to believe, but we are celebrating 3 wonderful years in business! Friday night we will be celebrating with a BYOB karaoke party!!

2012 was kind to us, and we are excited to see what this year has to offer!

In 2012, we gained some terrific new staff members: Lauren, Ashley, and Logan. We also saw business pick up and stay up, which is always comforting. We increased our seating capacity slightly, bought a new espresso machine, and survived the 6-week closure of the Berwyn El station. We also launched a regular events calendar, featuring an open mic/variety show, artists meet-ups, and readings by local writers.

Ally was accepted to and completed a selective program of classes for small business owners, the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses initiative, and loved every minute of that experience. Watch out, 2013, we're gonna make you ours!!

Ally also launched a new community initiative from the cafe in partnership with a regular customer, Carla Bruni. Community Glue Workshop is an effort to promote the repairing of broken items over the replacement. About once a month, we host free repair workshops at the cafe, where volunteers will try their hardest to fix your broken stuff. For free!

All in all, this has been a truly special year. Thank you for your support over the last three years! We wouldn't be here if it weren't for our loyal neighbors!

We are thankful for our wonderful neighborhood and supportive community!

Have a great holiday and thank you for your support!

Eventful Weekend

There's a lot of fun stuff happening this weekend at Kitchen Sink!

Friday night, we've got a literary event curated by our very own Jakob! Kitchen Sink Reads is half open mic, half local writers showcase. It is an intentionally safe, supportive place for you to share what you're working on, and meet other writers. And come hungry, our kitchen will be open! The event is 7-9pm, open mic sign-ups start at 6:45. This is a free, BYOB event. (Facebook event page)

And at midnight on Friday, the Berwyn station re-opens after 6 weeks of renovations! Hooray! Saturday morning, Ally will be at the station with Alderman Harry Osterman. Harry will give tours of the new digs, and Ally will have some coffee and sweets for the taking. Stop by on your way to the cafe.

Which brings us to Sunday. It's time for another Community Glue Workshop repair clinic! A community initiative born from our cafe, Community Glue is an effort to reduce waste, solve problems collaboratively, and learn some basic repair skills. We'll have some crafty volunteers awaiting your broken goods! The repair clinic is from 4-7pm. It is an all ages, BYOB event. Kids have a great time at our repair clinics, so bring 'em along! Learn more about Community Glue Workshop here. (Facebook event page)
